New Concept Studios

Press On!

April 2, 2008

Just launched recently, I’m pretty impressed with the WordPress Blog CMS. What’s really unique about this - is that it’s really just another CMS system with skinnable templates and custom built plugins.

The challenge for me, of course, was being able to handle PHP coding. I’m Microsoft - classic ASP and .NET baby! Boo all you want. That’s where I started and that’s probably where I’ll keep going.

But working inside of WordPress and seeing the intricate coding that has been developed and written over the years, I was really quite impressed with it. So much impressed, I’m wondering why isn’t there one for Microsoft guys like myself. Ok, I know - but lets not go there.

Anyway, I was hired by this company to re-design their blog system. Namely, from Blogger.com and take it over to the WordPress platform. Orignially they were looking at SquareSpace.com.

Even though SquareSpace was well developed - I felt that it was in the same sense, like Blogger. It didn’t give the client (users) total control over their entire site - namely, not a true CMS.

So after researching their company, or rather trying to identify what they are, I was able to come up with 2 designs for their liking.

Afterwards, my feelings are that I’m totally hooked on WordPress. This wasn’t my first encounter working with WordPress. This was however, my first indepth understanding of how the components of WordPress functioned.

Yeah, I’m definitely hooked. And I’ll be making my own site migration over sooner or later.
